Form 1120-S – An Overview
Form 1120-S is used by businesses elected as an S-Corporation to report the profit, losses, and other financial activities for that tax period.
This form is also used to report to the IRS what percentage of the corporation is owned by individual shareholders.

Due Dates to file Form 1120-S in 2023
Generally, the due date to file Form 1120-S is 15th day of 3rd month after the tax period ends.
The due date will vary based on the accounting period your S-Corporation follows.
If your S-Corporation follows the calendar tax period, then the due date to file 2022 Form 1120-S is March 15, 2023.
If your corporation follows the Fiscal tax period, then the due dates are as follows:

*If the deadline falls on a federal holiday or weekend, the return due date is the next business day.
If you miss the deadline to file 1120-S, you must pay penalty for each day you delay. IRS provides businesses the option to extend the deadline up to 6 months by filing tax extension Form 7004.
